Something else that I’ve been fussing with! I keep finding myself doing a lot of line works and using overlays and overlaps for some neat effects..

There is no greater feeling for myself than starting off with shit, and turning it into something that I feel good about putting in my portfolio. Here I am messing with this freaking typographic record packing for hours (it’s not 4 in the morn) and FINALLY! I’m looking at it all put together; the labels, cover, and inserts, and really liking the way it’s looking! I don’t even think I’m going to show my teachers because they’ll tell me to change something and I am totally content with how it looks.

LAST NIGHT

Seeing Beirut live was one of the most beautiful things I have ever got to experience first hand. Zach Condon’s vocals were right on key with the trumpet playing that melted my heart. The lights in shades of purple, yellow, and red complimented the music, the beers were flowing, and I got to share it with the most wonderful boyfriend in the world.

I feel like I could type forever on how perfect it was…but I got homework to do!

I am so glad I stayed for my Bachelor’s Degree. I’ve learned so much more about design and have so many more ambitions. Plus I got to know some of the best old guys in the world. aka my teachers!

Magazine advertisements in the works! ..I wanted to make a few options to put in my portfolio because after years of schooling I think I’ve made up my mind for what I want to do. Maybe… I definitely want to work for a clothing company at some point in my life and do promotional things for them. I could spend hours upon hours looking at clothes and gathering other ideas, typefaces, and color schemes to compliment them.

You know what makes me really happy?

The fact that when I listen to Nancy Sinatra, Neil Young comes next on my iTunes. They are both the sweetest things my ears have ever heard.

Turning this colored pencil illustration I did a while ago in a painting..nowhere close to being done but I’m glad I at least started doing it today!

FINALLY FINISHED! Took for freaking ever. Going to frame this bad boy real good and sell him at the gallery for sure.

Artist Mary Blair (1911-1978) made a lasting contribution to the Disney image.  Her work as a color stylist and designer influenced Disney’s mid-century output, including films such as Alice in Wonderland, Cinderella and Peter Pan.  She also designed the It’s a Small World attraction for the New York World’s Fair which later moved to Disneyland before being replicated for Disney World, Tokyo Disneyland, Disneyland Paris and Hong Kong Disneyland.  Mary’s imaginative use of color and her childlike graphics made her one of Walt Disney’s favorite artists.  

On October 20th, Samuel Goldwyn Theater will be hosting a panel discussion celebrating the 100th anniversary of Mary Blair’s birth.  For the next three years a show entitled “Mary Blair - Life Choices, The Work of a Mother” will be touring Japan.

I feel at total peace when I can let all of these these things consume the time left in my day. Every circumstance around me, the relationships with others prominently, inspires my art the greatest.
